Simple, Affordable Licensing Model

EView/400i Insight for Splunk is designed and architected around the EView Intelligent Agent Technology.   The EView Intelligent Agent is a lightweight agent that resides on the mainframe, gathering all data which comes through the console and other integration points.  

Just like all of EView Technology’s solutions, EView/400i Insight requires minimal resources.  There are no requirements for vast amounts of memory, GB of storage, etc… on the IBM systems that other solutions require.  This provides significant cost and efficiency savings.  Additionally, the EView Intelligent Agent affords the ability to narrow down the vast amount of mainframe log data to your exact requirements.  The advanced EView agent sends this data into an EView collector, via a TCP/IP connection.   The EView Intelligent Agent and collector use a sophisticated and reliable communication method – which enables the agent to recognize if the collector is not available and buffer messages to ensure critical data is not lost.   By taking the workload off the IBM systems for formatting and logging of data – EView Insight frees up valuable resources and ensures no data is ever lost. This information is then seamlessly handled by the Splunk Forwarder to the Splunk Indexer to where it can be displayed on the Splunk Enterprise console.

The enterprise-tested and proven architecture enables companies to maximize their Splunk Enterprise, effectively getting all the valuable mainframe data into Splunk , while providing the flexibility to customize in order to focus on the data that is specific to your needs. 

The EView agent architecture provides a single lightweight, enterprise agent for integrating mainframe data for Splunk and Micro Focus Operations Bridge/Operations Manger i (OMi), HP Operations Manager, Microsoft System Center, and Micro Focus Universal Discovery (UD) for UCMDB.  This unified enterprise agent provides lower overhead and a common data source for IT Operations.

EView/400i Insight for Splunk is affordably priced per-physical-machine, (2 iSeries systems = 2 licenses).  This is a one-time fee (plus annual support), perpetual license and not a complicated per- LPAR, MIPs, or GB of usage-based pricing model.  EView simplified pricing takes all of the complications out of deploying EView solutions and keeps cost low.  The cost to deploy and maintain, most likely, will be significantly less than a usage based pricing model, especially important as the volume of data increases.
